Michelle Taylor 
graduated from the University of Florida in 1994 with a Masters and a Specialist degree in School Guidance and Counseling. She started out working as a Guidance Counselor at Gainesville High School and then later moved to Kentucky where she worked at Jeffersonville High School. Before coming to Apopka, Mrs. Taylor worked as a counselor at Dr. Phillips High School. She has been married almost 20 years and has three amazing kids. She enjoys hanging out with her family and running them to all their crazy after school activities and sporting events. Mrs. Taylor joined the Apopka High School Student Services Team during the 2014-15 school year.

Kristina Roberts is our College and Career Specialist. She received her Bachelor's degree from Ohio State University and went on to receive her Master's degree from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas. She transferred to Apopka HS from McCoy ES where she worked as guidance counselor and staffing specialist, among other duties. Prior to OCPS, Kristina worked for DoDEA schools as a guidance counselor in Guam and Japan. Prior to working in education, she worked for non-profit agencies that specialized in issues such as domestic violence, child sexual abuse, foster care and group homes. Kristina is married to a retired Air Force spouse and has two teenage boys.

Matthew Mowel graduated with a Bachelor's degree from the University of Connecticut in 2014 and earned a Master's degree in School Counseling from Springfield College in 2016. Before relocating to the sunshine state with his wife and two children, Mr. Mowel earned critical experience in education teaching 7th grade Math. He has worked for several years in Orange County Public School system as a School Counselor and is proud to be a blue darter! Mr. Mowel is an avid sports fan and enjoys watching the Patriots, Celtics, and Red Sox. He also enjoys spending time with friends and family and can often be found at the beach, golfing, or the theme parks.

Judy Collins earned her B.A. degree from Indiana University in 1980, her M.S. degree in School Counseling from the University of Central Florida in 1994, and an Ed.S. degree from National Louis University in 2005 in Educational Leadership. She has worked with OCPS for 23 years, 13 of those years as an Elementary School Counselor, and 10 years as an Assistant Principal. Having lived in Apopka for over 20 years, Mrs. Collins is excited to return to the area to serve her community! She raised two sons who are proud Apopka Blue Darter graduates. In her time away from work, Mrs. Collins enjoys bicycling, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.

Denise Palmer
earned her B.A. degree in Social Studies Education in 1982, and her M.A. degree in Mental Health Counseling in 1993, both from University of Central Florida. She started teaching in Orange County in 1983, and has been a Guidance counselor at Apopka High School for the past 17 years. Mrs. Palmer is married, and has three daughters and one son, all grown now, and one granddaughter. She enjoys attending a variety of sporting events (especially Soccer and Football), reading, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.

Lisa Munyon graduated from FSU with a B.S. degree in Rehabilitation Services in 1991 and earned her M.S. and Ed.S. from FSU in Guidance & Counseling in 1993. Mrs. Munyon has worked for OCPS since 1994 and is excited to have joined the staff at Apopka High School during the 2012-13 school year. Mrs. Munyon lives in Apopka with her family and enjoys reading, going to the beach, and spending time with family and friends.

Diana Shaw graduated with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Central Florida in 2004. She went on to attain her master's degree in Psychology from the University of Phoenix in 2011. In 2018, she graduated from the University of Central Florida with her Ed.S. in School Counseling and earned a certificate in Play Therapy. Mrs. Shaw spent 14 years with Seminole County Public Schools as an educator and gained critical skills in leadership and instruction. In 2018, she transitioned to Orange County Public Schools and became a proud faculty member of Apopka High School as a Professional School Counselor. Her passion is to help every student see their potential in life regardless of the journey they may have had. When Mrs. Shaw is not at work, she spends her time with her husband and four daughters. She enjoys spending quality time with her family bike riding, going for runs on nature trails, or taking a trip to Disney. Her journey has come full circle as she is now back at her alma mater, Apopka High School.

Alexis Mahrt earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2012 from UCF. In May of 2017, she earned her Master’s degree in Counselor Education from UCF as well. Mrs. Mahrt is from DeLand, Florida, but currently lives in Downtown Orlando with her husband and their cat. She enjoys watching Netflix, traveling, trying new restaurants around Orlando, and spending time with her family and friends.

Resealia McKinney graduated from Florida A&M University with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and a minor in Psychology. She began teaching at the middle school level and has been with OCPS since 2000. While teaching, she decided to further her education at NOVA Southeastern University. She graduated in 2004 with a Master’s degree in School Guidance and Counseling. Mrs. McKinney is an avid reader who loves to encourage others and make people laugh. She also enjoys traveling, retail therapy and spending time with family and friends. Mrs. McKinney is excited to now be a Blue Darter!
